What's up fellow single peeps. Glad that "holiday" (do they consider this a holiday?!?!) passed and my pockets ain't empty #Tabernacle. Today I woke up with that feeling you would have when you end a relationship right before a significant holiday/date (like a birthday or anniversary). The feeling of relief and satisfaction, no? Before the word "dirt bag" comes to mind, although it fits like a glove, let me drop some #realtalk from my end.
Sure, I was alone. And yes, my mind wandered towards the notion of being in a relationship during this date. I've been in relationships that overlapped this special day, and in all honesty, the older you get the more pressure there is. Well, I guess how serious you are about the relationship can be a factor too. The thoughts of "is this enough", "what if he/she gets me something so much better" or "what if they don't get me anything at all", is just too stressful. I think its a little more complicated for guys since most aren't naturally romantic. I've never had to try and top my prior Vday outing because I've never been with anyone where Vday would come around twice. It's a gift and a curse really...
Although I come off as being against this celebration, truthfully I can see the ups and down to it.
Pros:
1. You are able to ignore or treat your mate like shit for days on end or a majority of your relationship, and make up for it in one day with some played out and cheesy romantic gestures or dropping some serious cash.
Cons:
1. You could end up spending a shit load of money and still not be guaranteed any ass.
2. All the prices for flowers or candy are all marked up, and doing the same thing a week before or after just somehow isn't as romantic as doing all of that on February 14th.
3. If you really put on a show, next year is going to have to be bigger and better (and if you don't top it, then you definitely ain't getting no ass).
